Labradorite dragons are some of the most potent siphons of mana in Valkemare. Dragons and other magical creatures in close proximity to a Labradorite will weaken over time, and extended exposure may even be fatal. However, Labradorites have no control over this effect; any harm they may cause is almost always unintentional. In order to protect others from their draining, they make their homes in the labyrinthine depths of underground caves. Perhaps as a result of this seclusion, Labradorites are gracious hosts to the brave few who dare explore their dark caverns. Legends tell of how these curious dragons traded their sight for wisdom, and those who seek their guidance are richly rewarded with stories, advice, and the odd gemstone.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Ani spends her days exploring the underground caves near her living space, making mental notes of any interesting things she stumbles upon, such as pools of mana or the occasional colony of enchanted cave fish. To help her remember where these things are, she makes up little rhyming songs about the identifiable landmarks along the way, leading up to the location of interest. Hatchlings and humans interested in a quick adventure though the tunnels will often seek out Ani to learn these songs. Ani happily welcomes these visitors, and particularly enjoys when they stumble upon something new and teach her their own song to follow.
