Shimmer-scale Dragons are a very beautiful breed with small—but highly reflective—scales that shimmer and shine as the dragon moves through water. They don’t have fins or webbed feet, but their long, eel-like bodies allow them to swim quite fast. They were once rumored to carry large pearls in their claws—causing many to seek them out in search of this fabulous treasure. In reality, the “pearl” is of greater value to the dragon, for the fabled treasure is actually an egg carried by a migrating female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This dragon's name is pronounced Vis-SCAR-YA, as in SCAR-YA, as in SHE'S GONNA SCAR YA! Taking after her mother far more than her father (much to everyone's misfortune), she firmly believes she is a great and powerful fire god and that, accordingly, everyone had better do what she says or die terribly. While these threats are often enough to get the uninitiated to hightail it into serving her (usually by bringing her handsome boy dragons to ogle while they sweat uncomfortably, or by making her some very tasty lemonade), those who know her well know for a fact that she's not managed to actually rain down fiery death on even a single person who's disobeyed her. She huffs and claims this is because she is a VERY merciful god of death fire and ruin, but some believe the truth might actually be that she has no control over fire at all. These people are heretics, of course, and should definitely not be taken seriously.
