Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its belly is bright red and it is most active in the evening.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Little Duskling is predictably most active in the evening, being a frozen Sunset; gliding through the silent woods in the dead of night, lazily snapping up moths and occasionally a passing bat are amongst his favourite pass-times.  However, his unusual talent for music is what makes him well-known with his siblings in the home cave and the humans of the surrounding lands.  Duskling delights in sneaking into the rafters of nearby opera-houses and theatres to hungrily memorise the songs and tunes of any late shows, before returning to Oakenheim's forest to hum and sing what he'd learned in his strange, guttural dragon's voice.  The humans who live near the forest believe him to be all manner of things; from a malevolent banshee to a lost and restless spirit.  Duskling knows nothing of the tales his haunting music spins, and desires nothing more than to continue singing until the end of his days.
