Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Eldor Ora's name derives from El Dorado, the City of Gold, chosen since she is a rather arrogant dragon. Eldor was a gift to the Kes Clan from a fellow Dragon Keeper and was raised as one of the family. She is quick tempered and slightly clumsy but she still makes for a wonderful mother. Her heart is as large as her ego, allowing her to get close to Mak, her intended mate. Though her heart cannot be filled by one dragon alone, she in secret has had many affairs. Rey and Seq, two other Magis of the cave have shown extreme interest in Eldor. As their body types are similar to Mak's, no one in cave has any idea of what has been going on.
