Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Caciocavallo was grateful for the man's hospitality, especially after the past few weeks. Because of the recent famine humans had been hunting anything they could eat and cheese dragons were high on the list.

Smiling at his good fortune to find such a nice host, Caciocavallo leaned back in the warm milk the man had allowed him to take a bath in, although he was a little confused on why his host had insisted on adding some leeks.

Suddenly, the door was knocked off its hinges and Caciocavallo's cave mistress appeared accompanied by Red Revenge. After clubbing Caciocavallo's host over the head with a poker, she dragged the tiny cheese dragon from the cooking pot and took him home to the cave, lecturing him on the importance of not talking to strangers.
