Hellhorse Dragons are foul-tempered, spirited creatures with tempestuous and violent dispositions. Torrents of scorching flames erupt from their bodies and can easily set their surroundings ablaze. Highly aggressive and territorial toward other dragon species, Hellhorses will tolerate others as long as they believe the association to be beneficial. Such alliances are tenuous in nature and frequently short-lived, as the slightest disagreement can easily escalate into a full-out brawl.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. With a temper as foul as her infamous breath, Bella- Heck Horse's loathed nickname- goes through life as the number one least popular dragon in the cave. Everyone- most particularly the Pygmy called Peter- avoids her like the plague and that's just how she likes it. She hates the color purple, she can't stand horses, she finds the mere sight of another dragon disgusting, and as for humans... if that one human didn't have over ten big dragons to back it up, it would have been a little pile of ashes the moment Bella hatched. But, of course, even a mean-spirited HellHorse has a touch of horse sense when it comes to those kind of odds. The one and only thing that Bella likes in the entire world are mint tarts- if that little Pygmy dragon Peter dares take another tart, though, Heaven help him because nobody else will.
