Nocturne Dragons are a strange breed. Whenever light strikes their bodies, they are frozen in whatever position they were in. This leaves them vulnerable and they rely on camouflage to keep themselves safe. They are often mistaken for statues when in this frozen state, but Nocturne dragons do not actually turn into stone. Rather, they merely idle until the sun goes down. At night, these dragons come to life, proving themselves to be powerful fliers, although little else is known about their true behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The House of Roc is so named for the mighty mythical falcon the Roc. It is what the dragon clans call the house of knightship. Eagle earned knightship and the the Title of Roc for protecting the clan when Nite Eye was ill. The enemy clan, Alpinesmoke, launched an attack at the time. Eagle of the House of Roc led the clan bravely in Nite Eye's place, and defeated the enemies without letting any harm come to Nite Eye, the frozens, or the eggs. Though in battle a fierce opponent, Eagle is a very soft-hearted dragon, and takes care of hatchlings when he is not training. He is mated to Shazari the Spitfire, who he, despite his knighthood, would lose to in battle. He is good friends with Rosaleia, whom he had known before Shazari, but he had never wanted to be her mate. Clan rumors go against this, but nobody talks to him about it lest he'd rip their throats out.
