Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Eikimou is very old, but not quite as old as her good friend, Aelisti. She tends to be cranky and unforgiving, but spending time with Aelisti seems to bring out her better side. As Aelisti is Clan Mother, Eikimou oftentimes helps her take care of the young dragons of the Village of the Aerithe Clan, or simply chats with Aelisti. she has a little sister, Maoimou, who constantly follows her around. Depiste Eikimou always telling Maoimou how much she dislikes her and wants her to go away, Maoimou always seems to see straight through her and will stick around. Eikimou is secretly very glad for her sister's prescence, but she refuses to tell that to Maoimou due to her backwards nature.
