Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hrathen was smitten with Lady Hatoshi at first, but was immensely offended when she spurned his mating advances and has since been quite hostile towards her and has turned his affections to Kirena and Starruby. Starruby is cold toward male dragons, after her first mate Raoden abandoned their egg in a very callous fashion and is spurning all of Hrathen's advances. Kirena seems to like him so far, but, after learning from his first mistake, Hrathen has held back his desire to mate.
