Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

User Description

Daylight Maroonfye was still an egg when Sally Lamonde found him along with his three siblings, also in eggs. The mother was not present, so she decided to take one home. Two eggs had many scratches, and another was very blurry and dim. So she took the one to the right, which was already shaking. Sally quickly but carefully placed the egg in her knapsack, then hopped upon her Sunstone dragon, Kiran-Jeq Glowarmth and flew home. Daylight was a shy hatchling and had few friends because there weren't many other Drakes around the area he lived in. Once he matured he decided to search for a mate, but he has had no success so far.
