Look, it’s grown frills, and the glow around it has become even brighter.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

McSparkly is a prissy little thing. She's far too dainty to get her own meat, and refuses to eat it if it's the least bit bloody. She always waits for someone to put a pile of leaves over a puddle of water before stepping over it, and never allows any of the male hatchlings to enter the cave before her. The other hatchlings don't mind so much that she insists on being the first to enter the cave, as her bright glow helps to light the way for the rest of them. Like most girls of her attitude, she enjoys shiny, bright things, and so spends a lot of her time staring at her reflection in the river, captivated by her shiny skin.
