Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Though born and raised in the forest, Gruinion has come to call the rocky shores of Dragon Isle "home". That's where his mate, Estenniel, feels most comfortable. She means the world to him, and he would gladly give up anything to make her happy. Grunion does most of the hunting and gathering, especially because Estenniel would have him live off of clams and clams alone if he didn't bring home his own dinner.

The other dragons and drakes along the coast always look forward to seeing Gruinion. He always brightens others' days with his cheerful attitude and pleasant singing. They affectionately refer to him as "Gru" and often have meat or other nice foods to give him. It's not uncommon for Gruinion to stop and play with hatchlings he encounters on his daily rounds, chasing them around and using his sandy coloring to blend into the beach so that he can surprise them when they get close.
