Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Spirit Silverheart swears to never become the monster that his father is. He is kind to all, and his generosity has shaken off all of the prejudice that comes with being the son of Frozen Heart. He may have cold blood in his veins, but he refuses to let that get in his way. Most dragons are surprised at the hospitality he shows to dragons passing through on migratory trips, and at his willingness to care for sick and orphaned hatchlings. However, despite his soft exterior, he is at a constant war with desires very much like his father's. Occasionally, he will begin fantasizing about things such as bringing about despair and being disloyal to others. But he shakes these desires off, pushing them to the back of his mind and hiding them behind an almost fake smile. All of the elder dragons but Almighty think the world of him, but Almighty knows that it is just a matter of time before Silverheart becomes what he has sworn not to be.
