Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It always seems to be picking over its scales.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Simple Wishes was raised from an egg by her master, a master who could see that the dragon came from a small but pronounced lineage of heirs. Wish was not born a gold, and therefore the future generations would not be allowed to rest upon the young dragon's shoulders. So, the little egg was tossed aside, without a second's thought. Wish's master found the silver dragon in a beautiful egg, and rescued it happily. As the young hatchling grew, the master realized its selfishness, and the independence that came with age. And, out of compassion for Wish, the master cast a freezing spell on Wish. Wish would never know the independence of adulthood, but be saved from the tortures of being "not good enough".
