Setsong Dragons wake with the setting of the sun. They can be found hunting during the night, only to vanish into their lairs once the sun begins to rise. Their glossy feathers and scales are a deep purple, but the evening sunlight reflects off of their bodies in a beautiful red-gold shimmer. Setsongs are reclusive dragons, found alone or in small groups, and are fiercely territorial--and loyal, protecting their hatchlings and group just as stubbornly as their hunting grounds. These dragons have a respectable ability to weave magic, but only once the sun has started to set: the daylight weakens their magical powers, and their spells are most potent at night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nightaura, like her half-sister Skyrose, loves singing as soon as the moon is in the sky. The moment she senses the slightest glimmer of moonlight, she'll get up, find a good perch, and warm up. She prefers to stick to low areas such as trees for her musical performances.

Her music has melodies and rhythms just as beautiful as Skyrose's, but it is when the other dragons pay attention to the words of her songs that they realize their darkness. Nightaura seems to take a hankering to singing things about how dangerous the various regions of the Crimson Island are. Most of the nocturnal dragons don't mind, but the ones who fall asleep late are kind of annoyed with her.

Everyone asks how Nightaura manages to sing with the limited communication abilities that dragons have, unlike Skyrose. There's no logical reason behind it. They just seem to.
