Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.

And look! It’s grown a dense mane! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

While Freezer Baby is exceptionally proud of his long and venerated lineage, which he can trace back to the earliest years of recorded time, most other dragons don't seem too impressed with his ancestry—and nor, for that matter, was the human magician that occasionally tends to the clan. That might have something to do with the fact that he just doesn't seem to be growing up, a phenomenon that occurred just shortly after he expressed his desire to carry on the noble line.
