Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It can fit right in your palm.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A bossy, prudent older sister, the oldest of the current brood of Saphnira and Fortissimonger,  Saphmonger knows best. Or at least she thinks she does. The equivalent of nine or ten in human years, Saphmonger delights in bossing around her younger siblings. She always watches out for them though, and loves them as fiercely as a dam dragon loves her own draclings. Accordingly, her siblings follow orders (sometimes) and adore their older sister; that is, when they aren't pulling pranks on her, teasing her or getting angry at her.

It's a hard life, being the oldest.
