Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Freefly, who is Fastfall's sister, is probably the clan's fastest and most brilliant flier. She is one of the clan's warriors, but also takes messages from one dragon to another when she has time. Because the clan's lands are so big, it can take days for dragons to communicate with each other, and Freefly can cover these distances much faster than most other dragons. During times of war, Freefly also carries messages from the warriors to the leaders, and vice versa, and she is often one of the first to warn the others of trouble. She is great friends with Groenagge, and often carries messages from Groenagge to the leader dragons when Groenagge needs to report somethings but can't leave.
