Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Clockwork Fixmore, or Clockwork, is a young Gold Tinsel dragon. Being one of the smartest in his clan, he has been dubbed their "handyman". He is an amazing engineer, and has been working with clocks since he was a young hatchling. He learned this skill from his first owner, who was the town's clock engineer. Clockwork would watch his owner fix the clocks, and eventually figured out how to himself once his owner moved away. Every night, he flies into the local town, and inspects the clock in Town Hall, which breaks down a lot. Nobody in town knows who keeps fixing the clock. Clockwork is a very inquisitive dragon, and always has to figure things out. However, being one of the smartest dragons in his clan, Ajax always makes him work with Voltie to perfect their inventions. Ajax can sometimes annoy him with his seemingly endless commands, but he doesn't mind fixing things. He has no fear of humans, and enjoys watching them fix or build things.
