And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
An enchanting rogue, Azrael is at once both charming and mischievous. Blessed with the uncanny speed of his father and the happily spontaneous nature of his mother, he is an impulsive thief. Member of a powerful family as he is, this is not necessary to his survival, but he does take pride in being able to snitch things from right under people's noses, and often falls over backwards, laughing, when he sees their confused expressions. If the identity of the robber is discovered and he is confronted, he responds to their accusations with wit and good humor, and often forks over the stolen object out of respect for their having been able to sniff him out. Sometimes the robbed are not satisfied with even this; but his parents will make certain no one does him harm. However, despite his impish personality, he is truly good at heart, and often steals from the corrupt among the rich to give to those poor who deserve it.
