Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Algebra Sucks and her mate Calculus is for Nerds were both named in a moment of RAGE by their usually placid caretaker. What the rage was about is anyone's guess, although both Algebra and her very confused mate guessed that it may have something to do with having her entire family demolished by a cyclone named Algebra.

Algebra herself is a quiet, timid dragon who dislikes being confined to her cave and will often wander for weeks on end. Despite her silence and meekness, she's quite a spectacle when she visits any human villages. Humans come from all over just to see her.
