Valentine eggs are only seen once a year. Adults’ mating seasons are very short, usually spanning a few weeks in the mid-to-late winter. These dragons were once reputed to be omens of good luck in love.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Asante's mate, Kwaheri Kyeema, was born from a weak-shelled pink egg she rescued. While the other dragons just laughed at her actions, and her willingness to save the abandoned egg, she traveled alone into a densely-populated human town. There she made sure to nurture the egg enough to hatch, even though she was in danger herself of being pursued and hunted by money-hungry humans.

Asante Adoni, whose name means 'thank the sunset' is a bright, gentle soul. She is loved by many of the Coorinna dragons; the hatchlings enjoy her fairytale-esque stories, she comforts and brings food and water to the sick and old, and the adults love hearing her jokes and tales of her adventures throughout the land beyond the Coorinna Territory.
