Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is very aggressive, and has brilliant turquoise markings all over its body.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Bell Greentree recognizes a lost cause when he sees one, and this forsaken hatchling certainly fit the category. His knees were weak, his tail was short and his turquoise coloring was, to say the least, light. Having been rejected by his mother, he approached Bell with the last dregs of his strength. Bell normally would have scoffed and turned away, but here was one of his own species, a mere hatchling, in suffering and in need. He gave the hatchling some food and would have turned away, but something about the hatchling must have intrigued him, for he turned back. To save the hatchling's life, he has been frozen, and adopted by Bell as one of his own--he particularily enjoys playing with Bell's frozen daughter and granddaughter, Alaran Junior and Alaran's defeat.
