Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

The first words Smoked Cheese can remember are "Do you want to experience life". Smoked Cheese was saved from the rats that raided the cupboards by an alchemist who was searching for the secret of life. Although the alchemist failed to discover the secret, he could create artificial life, and so Smoked Cheese came into the world by the master alchemist's magic. Grateful to his master, Smoked Cheese continues to search for the only thing his creator desired, so that Smoked Cheese has a purpose in life, and so his creator's dream can be fulfilled.
