Nocturne Dragons are a strange breed. Whenever light strikes their bodies, they are frozen in whatever position they were in. This leaves them vulnerable and they rely on camouflage to keep themselves safe. They are often mistaken for statues when in this frozen state, but Nocturne dragons do not actually turn into stone. Rather, they merely idle until the sun goes down. At night, these dragons come to life, proving themselves to be powerful fliers, although little else is known about their true behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Noxflora is a quiet loner who often leaves her clan for months at a time. During these absences, she sits atop old chapels by day, and steals shiny objects and flies among the stars by night. When she returns, she is frozen with a mischievous smile on her face. She stays for 24 hours, then disappears the next day.

Noxflora was injured in a fight with Nightshade in her youth, leaving a long scar running from her eye to her foreleg. Hiding behind a mask of anger, she soon began to hide in distant caves rather than socialize. Her place in the community was always empty, and she missed her friends' namings (the second most important event in a dragon's life, second only to a betrothal, which is rare). Her only indicator of passing time was the Messenger of the Rose announcing the wonderful betrothal of "The Beautiful Princess Adalgisa and Le feu de Glace." They were newly laid eggs on her last visit.
