Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kianakai was the very first gold dragon for Tom to get. One day, Tom was exploring a cave, when he saw someone leaving the egg at the entrance with tears in his or her eyes. Actually he couldn't realize if that human was a female or a male. However, Tom saw people rush at it, but because the egg was inches away from him, he got it first. Kianakai was raised and learned from Tom to hunt and do other things, specific to dragons, that Tom learned from the elders. From the day Tom got the egg, he knew that there is a hard connection between the gold dragon and him.
