Valentine eggs are only seen once a year. Adults’ mating seasons are very short, usually spanning a few weeks in the mid-to-late winter. These dragons were once reputed to be omens of good luck in love.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tokiha likes to collect fallen bird and dragon feathers from time to time, and make them into little mobiles and dolls that she keeps displayed on some rocks in her living cavern. Somehow, word got out that the little trinkets she makes give dragons good luck in love, so she eventually started getting special requests for gifts. Each February, Tokiha is asked by dozens of dragons to make small "affection dolls" they can give out to their sweethearts, and some dragons even bring her their own materials to use for making the dolls. While it can be hard work at times, Toki feels that it's all worthwhile, especially since she feels extremely happy whenever she sees one of her dolls in the home of a happily mated dragon pair.
