Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Galaxy Canvas was found as DragonPassion13's first nebula dragon, and they became close companions. He spent hours studying his nebula beside his owner, and eventually the girl took a telescope and began to paint the pattern of his nebula on an art canvas, known as the Butterfly Nebula today. The result was a beautiful painting, which DragonPassion hung up on the wall of his room. Galaxy Canvas looked at the painting, and he instantly fell in love with the concept of using paints on a canvas; how it reflected the majestic scene and the thoughts and opinions of the painter. He spent long hours training himself to hold a paintbrush and create abstract scenes of the universe, which DragonPassion took to display outside of their cave for all to see. He was an admired artist by nearby dragons, and attracted the attention of another female nebula painter, Galaxy Portrait. The two now are the parents of the Galaxy Paint Lineage, a group of nebula dragons who share their love of art.
