Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hol may not actually be the quietest of the Jingle Lads, that honor goes to Sol, who is a mute. She used to speak (maybe not too much, she's always been pretty quiet), but, after the great tragedy that crippled her village, she has been silent. This silence makes her all the freakier, as she fully indulges in her group's actions. Their duty is to collect naughty dragons from surrounding villages to sacrifice to the monster that ruined their town to begin with. He constantly threatens to destroy the land if they do not serve him, so they do what they must to prevent all from being lost. Sol especially was close to the lads' previous leader, Aeg, and is the most affected by his supposed death during the tragedy. She acts like an angel of death, silently watching other dragons to determine which will be sacrificed, occasionally ignoring Elf's calculations to take fewer lives. She wants full assurance. She can't afford to lose anyone else in her life, not after losing Aeg, her best friend.
