Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a somber color, but is surprisingly playful.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Lost and alone, Twilight found only darkness. Raised by the fog, she could not understand the thoughts of dragons, did not comprehend how he light worked. Instead she saw in grayscale. Nothing was ever right or wrong, just... gray. One day though, she made the mistake of stealing from the wrong dragon and was hunted down by the blood thirsty Vampire. He set his eyes on her, glinting with malice. She cringed expecting the bite, but instead blackness engulfed her yet again. When her eyes opened, she saw two black dragons standing in front of her, the Vampire gone. He had been guilty, they said, and she was too. She gasped and flinched, but then they chuckled, guilty of loneliness. They took her home and taught her; taught her to see in colors... other than gray.
