Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It was born with a full set of wings.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

RidgewingTrauma is a Ridgewing Dragon hatchling who has been through a lot in his short life. Soon after hatching, he managed to wander away without anyone noticing him. His parents have a number of hatchlings to keep track of, so they didn't realize that he was missing immediately. RidgewingTrauma was attacked by a wild dragon, and he had to run away. He ran as fast as he could, but the dragon was gaining on him; suddenly he tripped and fell onto a pile of large rocks. He tucked himself into a little space between two of the boulders, The wild dragon clawed and bit at RidgewingTrauma, but it couldn't pull him out. He tucked himself as far back under the rocks as he could, and the claws just kept coming after him. Amazingly his worried parents came to RidgewingTrauma's rescue, and fought off the wild dragon. Now the poor hatchling still bears the scars, physical and mental, from the horrible event.
