Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys running through a nearby pumpkin patch.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling was born in a pumpkin pie with lots of sugar. He hatched one day in a pool of sweet pie goodness, and was nearly eaten by a young girl. It was his mother's fault that his first glimpse of the world was pie; she was a pumpkin pie fanatic. It seems that this trait was passed down the genealogy. Now, this hatchling will stick around as long as the humans will welcome him with a pumpkin pie bed and a kind smile. He, in turn, replies readily to any kindness given and is as sweet as the pies he eats.
