Originating from a single species that thrived in ancient times, Xenowyrms have become an incredibly diverse breed whose appearances vary depending on their habitats. Each Xenowyrm subspecies is heavily reliant on the power of different types of mana, making them powerful magic users. Chronos are often considered to be the most elusive of all Xenowyrm subspecies: they live in the darkest and densest forests, far from civilization. They are masters of time magic, allowing them to manipulate the flow of time at will. It is said that Chrono lairs are protected by a field of magic that makes the minutes tick by at a slow pace for any unwanted visitors.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gear is Glivarh's mate. She is unusually social for her breed, playing around with others in the clan on a regular basis. She also holds a large amount of interest in humans. She's absolutely fascinated by all the things they can do with their fingers, but knows the dangers of getting too close all to well. Her right eye was mangled when she got caught in a trap designed for a slow death. She functions as well as can be expected, but was insecure about it for a long time.

Glivarh was her saving grace in many ways. After her accident, she didn't want to play, or eat, or anything else. He'd been there before and pulled her out of it, and a week or two later, they were mated. She's still convinced that she isn't good enough for him, but with time, she'll be okay.
