Bright-Breasted Wyverns are a breed of dragon easily recognized by their bright red markings. They are a small breed, only the size of a full-grown man. However, they have developed poisonous barbs on their feet to make up for their size. Their coloration is used to warn off potential predators of the danger, and is also used to attract mates. They are very social, and can often be seen preening in large groups.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The oldest of Silvre's Bright-breasted Wyvren flock, Bluewing is nonetheless a slight outcast. The main reasons for this are his strangely shaped markings. The definition between colors is blurred, and there are often blotches where there should not be. It also does not help that he was adopted into the flock from another family. In his younger years, when the flock was new, this fact tormented him to no end. In order to make up for his flaws, he put much effort into becoming a great warrior, and that effort has paid off greatly. He is the best fighter of the flock, and the most experienced. He bears many scars, the most noticeable of which is the large claw-mark on the bridge of his nose. He has a keen memory and is able to remember almost every battle strategy and fighting trick he has ever seen. However, despite this, he has nearly no grasp of strategy and is unable to or see what his opponents may be doing, unless, of course, he has seen or used that strategy before.
