Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This pitiful little dragon is constantly feeling sorry for himself.  He wails and moans all the time about not getting his way.  He frequently threatens to hold his breath until his scales turn blue or to eat worms, but these threats just don't seem to have the effect he wants them to; the other dragons just wait and watch, or even worse, give him giant, slimy, disgusting worms to eat!  The nerve of some dragons!
