Kingcrownes are a mysterious and proud species, possessing some of the most beautiful and reflective scales of all dragons. Despite this, what is sought after most is not their scales, but the silk-like hairs that grow along their head, neck, and elbows. The hairs themselves have a magical shine, and are thought to have powerful healing properties when used in potions. The hairs of a Kingcrowne are even believed to bring good fortune to those who possess them. Though it is obvious that these dragons possess magical abilities, it is still not entirely clear what they are fully capable of. Most of a Kingcrowne’s time is spent grooming itself, keeping its scales and fur in top condition.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

An especially vain Kingcrowne, Solar tends to spend the majority of his time by his mother's side, spreading gossip and drama. Solar loves drama, particularly watching it. Usually, he will seek it out and watch from the sidelines, but, sometimes, he will actively engage in or even start it. His family doesn't necessarily approve of this behavior, especially since it can involve other dragons getting hurt or humiliated, but Solar has never been one to honor scolding. He is unruly by nature and almost has a superiority complex. His mother, Solomen, can occasionally get some obedience out of him, but that's really only because the two act more like best friends than mother and son. As much as Solomen hates when Solar takes things too far, even she can admit to loving a good bit of drama. The two have bonded over this love and are quick to keep each other updated on the latest bits of gossip. Solar's relationship with his father, Bronze, however, is virtually nonexistent.
