Blacktip Dragons are a small, shore-dwelling breed that tend to nest on sheer ocean side cliffs. They live in groups under a dominant female, who prevents her subordinates from breeding. During the mating season, a group of Blacktips can be very noisy and smelly indeed; males produce a distinctive musky odor and loud, low-pitched honking noises in an attempt to woo the alpha female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Pretty much what you'd expect from having a name like Salt. Salt is a bitter, nasty, little dragon with some serious anger issues. He'll snap at anyone and everyone over the slightest offense. He's also surprisingly strong for a little guy! (He is the smallest Blacktip in his family.) He'll even attack his own reflection if he's feeling salty enough. The only creature he stays calm around is his eldest sister, Heron. Since she is a powerful female Blacktip, it only makes sense that he'd keep his mouth shut around her. His name does not just refer to his attitude. Salt also has an intense craving for salty foods. If you ever get on his bad side, offer him a salty fish and he will calm right down. It's shocking how often this works. He can go from steaming angry and ready to fight, to passive and quiet in a heartbeat. He won't even remember why he was mad in the first place. Obviously, Salt is not a very intelligent dragon and he can be very easily distracted and manipulated.
