Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys sunning itself in the morning light.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This Hatchling was named for the word for "daybreak" in Italian. She's a very calm, sober Dragon with a serious demeanor for one so young. She spends much of her time reading and talking to older Dragons about the places they've traveled and the interesting things they know. Sometimes she'll indulge the other Hatchlings and play a few games, or run a few races, but she secretly feels above it all. She'd much rather be off on her own with a new scroll she's found to read.
