Young drakes are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own.

LongNightDrake is an Orchredrake Hatchling with lots of energy. He sort of quivers with excitement, like a puppy. LongNightDrake's favorite game is 'Fetch'. His owner or the children of a nearby human village throw a leather ball and LongNightDrake runs to catch it, then he takes it back so that it can be thrown again. He'd play all day and all night if anyone was willing to throw the ball that long.
