White Dragons are pacifists and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can’t bring back the dead. They only eat plants and never kill living things.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Orlem of the Sapphire Gaze is named for his curiously intent stare, which he can even use sometimes to hypnotize difficult patients.  He was born and raised at Highrock Weyr, but left when he realized his talents were being wasted.  As a healer, Orlem knew when it was kindest to just let a patient die, and he recognized Highrock Weyr as having been functionally dead for at least the past generation.  He now travels with Faylarna, and shares her mission of devoting everything to making the lives of others better (though unlike her he knows how to pace himself).  Orlem has been careful never to tell Faylarna about Highrock Weyr—she'd never be able to resist trying to help, and would get herself killed by Highrock's paranoid leader Olinbar or magi guard Curnsaro before she even got past the weyr's shields.
