Storm Dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

It has been many harsh years since Preto Osso took on the mantle of co-leadership for his constantly-growing weyr. His temper, once legendary in its volatility, has mellowed drastically. Despite this, the threat of the storm constantly lurks beneath his scarred, old hide. Time, unearned respect and the love of his weyrmates has taught him the value of patience and wisdom.

Preto has learned to take out his frustrations against the very mountainside which contains the weyr, blackening it with lashes of electricity and stinging rain when his temper gets the better of him. His weyrmates view him with a healthy dollop of respect—he has become something of a legend within his cave, if only for the uncountable number of challenges over leadership he has swatted aside.

Second after the weyr, his children are his life. He still has no definite mate, and frankly, prefers life as a bachelor. His daughters, growing up under his wing, have aged into some of his proudest and strongest warriors.
