Originating from a single species that thrived in ancient times, Xenowyrms have become an incredibly diverse breed whose appearances vary depending on their habitats. Each Xenowyrm subspecies is heavily reliant on the power of different types of mana, making them powerful magic users. Umbras are a solitary and generally unwelcoming subspecies found in the deepest and darkest recesses of the jungle. This highly intelligent and cunning wyrm has little fondness for intruders and those seeking them either for their hoarded wisdom or gleaming, crystalline scales. They are content to leave travelers alone, but are not above bringing a swift and harsh end to those that disturb their peace.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Darksun and his twin sister Darkstar are newer members of the Weyr of Soft Flowers, having sworn their service as guards and protectors. Their power is indeed fierce, so much so that there was considerable debate about allowing the twins to even join the Weyr at all. The vote ended up working out in their favor, and they've been living peacefully in their own cave by the shore since.

Darksun hasn't forgotten, though, the divided feelings about allowing his sister and him to stay. He doesn't hold a grudge against the dragons of the Weyr of Soft Flowers, exactly. But he does remember their hesitation and fear when he drives off potential threats from their borders.

Darksun is trying to make friends among the Weyr, allies. Dragons who might speak up for him and his sister if their loyalty is ever questioned. Darksun's loyalties may not lie where they appear at all times, but he loves his sister, and whomever he truly reports to, he'll do whatever he must to ensure that they are both safe.
