Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Akarihana used to keep a tidy cave stocked with light mana crystals, but one morning she overslept and missed a lot of the sunlight and the usual family basking time. This made her so upset that she decided from then on that she would only sleep outside, so even if she did let herself snooze a bit more she would still be able to enjoy the benefits of the morning sun. She's made a nice little berth for herself in front of a new living cavern that faces the sun just right, and uses the indoor space for storage and occasional weather shelter. Her siblings wonder why she doesn't just try to go to sleep earlier, but Akari replies that she just likes the feeling of being able to take her time waking up in the mornings.
