Failed attempts to experiment with magic often result in transforming dragons into these hellish creatures. They are extremely dangerous, and will mindlessly kill any living creature without regard to friend or foe.

Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Emther, the desiccated corpse of a Black Dragon female, stalks the edges of the dragons territory--perhaps seeking stragglers--but never entering within. Her eyes can be seen, staring hungrily at the eggs at night, held back only by the combined magic of the troupe leaders Michealangelo and Japhiel.

Some of the non-vampiric dragons believe the Failed Transformation Guard Zilo gives the failed vampire eggs to her--though how one or the other has not been killed in those speculated transactions remains unexplained.
