Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Maireann is the evidence that females need not be considered inferior to males. Although not as great in size as her male siblings, she is equal in strength to any of her brothers, and keen to defend the honour of her clan. Any intruder upon their lands discovered by Maireann can be seen fleeing far away with a good many fresh wounds covering their back. In times of turmoil, such as when great Black dragons from the north like Dimmu Borgir and Hildr Valkyrja invaded their clan's lands, she fought as brave as any of her brothers. Maireann is proud, and would do anything to defend her family's lands and reputation. To her kith and kin however, Maireann is kind, calm and just, which in combination with her bravery in combat makes that she commands respect from all those that know her.  

Secretly admiring the handsome Silver males Sheane and Shawe, who have their territory nearby, Maireann hopes that some day she will find such a mate as well.
