When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Black eyes, despite their gloom, can see more of the world than most others. The intricate Insherio knows this fact well. She has observed from the perspective of both land-dwellers and water-dwellers, and if she was given the choice to pick one of these lives to live, she would have definitely selected the former. Her powerful love for the lush forests, the sweltering deserts, the bitter alpines, and the deadly volcano lands has left her stricken with grief and longing due to her kind's lush blue habitat of the lakes. She is occasionally seen off in the distance, her head above the unforgiving waves, scales glistening beautifully in the solemn sunset, serenely watching groups of little hatchlings scrambling about on the sandy shores, always imagining herself playing amongst them.
