Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Purity's Ascendance is not, in any sense of the word, "pure." She was stolen out of the wilderness after being bitten, surviving by the slimmest chance. Her "father" in her new world, Centuries Fall, was never around, more interested in his own selfish desires of being remembered. Banished Quasiroyal and Candlelight Phantasma were myths to the world, and she could never remember them even seeing her once.

Her one friend in the world was Corroded Justice, his mental state possibly even worse than Purity's Ascendance herself. She watched the deaths caused by Corroded Justice's unfair verdicts without a care. Silence was her only vow binding her to the world.

No, Purity's Ascendance was never pure. She, as is in her name, ascended beyond that. She's not pure or innocent or beautiful, as she would've been if she had been left the way she was before her biting. She's beyond those limits of the human mind now.
