Pink Dragons are primarily herbivores and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan’s young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nyathayn had always been a warrior and many are surprised when they hear of his past as a troop in the Dragon Wars. His father was a strong gold dragon that raised him a fighter, even against his mother's wishes; Nyathayn knew that his father had wanted a gold dragon for a son and, being a pink, was determined to make his father proud. When the Wars started, he was eager to join and did at his first chance; but while fighting, his home cave was raided and his mother and father killed. He left the battle in anguish at the news and decided it was time to leave the battlefield. He returned home when the final fighting started to subside, buried his family, and resigned to pink dragon duties of caring for eggs and young. Even rugged and battle-scarred, Nyathayn is a wise and kind soul, telling stories to the hatchlings and humming to the eggs, enjoying putting his blood-filled past behind him.
