Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Kasai is a mischievous little imp who refused to grow up, preferring her small size so that she would better be able to escape notice and elude pursuit from those angry about whatever she'd done. A tomboy, she loves to tussle with other hatchlings as well as some of the more subdued and smaller adult dragons. She hates girliness and often has to be pried off of Lady Opang, whose pink color and pompous, stuck-up attitude infuriates Kasai. She also is at odds with Yakker Dark, who hates the color black.

Kasai doesn't hate everyone—she has a crush on Skidback. Not that she'll ever admit to it.
