Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

At birth this dragon had a different name. A nice name. A name with no implications or prejudices against it. Naming her "Cooties" was something that happened naturally in her cave after a great scare that she may have had the disease that shares her namesake.

See, although the the silver dragons in the cave have assumed her for one of their own, they soon noticed she had something they did not: She had wings.

Silvers aren't usually considered the most clever of dragons, and they certainly aren't the most moral, so was seen as perfectly acceptable to them to spread a rumor about her to quell their jealousy.

A rumor that said that she had a virulent disease that was highly infectious and worse yet, fatal.

Fear ran high, and Cooties was avoided like the plague. Eventually things calmed down when it became clear (mostly from the actions of a very brave young male) that she was NOT infected with cooties.

However, the name stuck, and she is still called Cooties to this very day.
